Beneath the Weeping Willow

The Rose lay beneath the Weeping Willow
Swaying as the malevolent wind billowed
Dreary petals begin to fall to Earth
As the Rose tries to escape the hurt

Beneath the twisted vines
Surrounded by smoking pines
The Rose withers and dies
As the weeping willow cries

The bitter soft tears filled the land
As the soil turned to sand
Cast off without a home
Reading over dusty tomes

Thorns piercing page after page
As if fighting a wandering sage
The Rose knew only defeat
A place to belong it did seek

Knowing no such place existed
It's mind grew fierce and twisted
Black tints over crimson leather
Blood dripping on the final letter

A thorn so bold to break the skin
Keeping away souls of evil sin
The Rose knew not where to begin
An unholy thought filled within

A place to be happy was it's thought
No such place the havoc wrought
Bitter tears filled his eyes
The weeping willow shared the cries

He begged and begged for it to be so
Then waited and waited losing all hope
Finally understanding what is true
Thoroughly thinking things through

A place for him did not exist
"Friends" to fight with opened fists
Betrayed by all, hurt by something
The end to his pain never showing

The Willow stood bitter and crying
As the bleeding Rose lay slowly dying
The midnight moon high and shining
Friend to none with heartbreaks sighting

The Rose lay beneath the Weeping Willow
Swaying as the malevolent wind billowed
Dreary petals began to fall to Earth
As the Rose tried to escape the hurt

Tragic, yet beautiful.
