Sparks are predictably flying after an act at a Norwegian music festival Tuesday suddenly featured live sex on stage. Local police are investigating the incident and a local politician from the Christian Democrats says he'll file charges. Festival organizers claim they weren't told about the sex act and wouldn't have approved it.

The act occurred during an appearance by a Norwegian band called The Cumshots, led by actor/musician Kristopher Schau. Both the band and Schau are known for their attempts to shock and outrage the general public.

Midway during the Cumshots' set, two environmental activists appeared on stage and started having sex in a variety of positions. The couple, Tommy Hol Ellingsen and Leona Johansson, are known for donating revenues from an Internet porn site they run to save rain forests around the world.

Organizers of the Quart Festival in Kristiansand, along with festival workers, claim they were shocked over the act, which Schau had kept a secret. Foreign artists appearing at the festival said they'd never seen anything like it, anywhere.

Expect the unexpected
"When you hire in a band like The Cumshots, you have to expect that something might happen," said festival spokesman Espen Thorsesen Hværsaagod. "At first, I laughed, but then I choked a bit too.

"It's a bit sad that there were minors in the audience. They've surely seen worse things at home on TV, but we wouldn't have approved an act like this if we'd known about it."

Nonetheless, festival organizers aren't taking any measures against Schau. Local polician Steinar Kristiansen, however, is furious.

'Lack of judgment'
"Kristopher Schau showed here a lack of judgment and defiance for Norwegian law," Kristiansen, who represents the Christian Democrats on the county council for Vest-Agder, told Aftenposten Multimedia. "Fortunately, not only the conservative Christian Democrats are reacting to this. I hope that members of the public file police reports as well."

Kristiansen also said Schau should never be allowed to perform at the festival again, and that he should be banned from Norwegian television.

Schau, not surprisingly, was delighted with the act and claimed he's just doing his part to protect rain forests. "We've been accused of not having any cause," he said. "Here we've had a fine opportunity to improve our reputation."
