any math people around?

I was thinking about string-theory today, and have been playing with the idea that all dimensions are open rather than compressed into Kalabi-Yau shapes.
I was wondering if non-locality and other EPR "spooky (superluminal) effects" could be explained by additional but active spacial dimensions. How would one begin an analysis of the physics of higher-dimensional interactions?
My background in math is a BS, with my interest in recursive topology (simplifying fractals into their equations). Now I just play around with math as a hobby...I work at a liquor store and the most math I ever use is to add 21 to birth years all day.
