Heya...so, next Tuesday, May 13th, at 7:00 PM...I will be singing in a concert. Come see me! Come see me!

It's a benefit concert that a friend of mine organized. As the posters say, it's "forty opera singers joining voices to alleviate world hunger." The program is scenes from several well-known operas, including Carmen, La Traviata, Marriage of Figaro, The Mikado, etc. And yours truly will be singing the role of Carmen in the Act II quintet from that opera :D .

I'm serious, it's going to be fabulous - the talent involved with this program is awesome, and many of the scenes are really funny. Plus, ADMISSION IS FREE. That's right! Donations to the "Save a Family Plan" (the organization that the concert is benefitting: http://www.safp.org) will be accepted, but there's no ticket charge.

So the program will be at the Music Hall on Volunteer Blvd on UT campus. 7:00 PM next Tuesday. Come put some high culture in your life with a concert that will kick serious ass. Or just come to see me...I won't complain at all.

so, there is no admission, and the way they are going to help alleviate world hunger through singing is by the donations they receive?

Well, yah...it's the same theory as having a free carwash for a fundraiser - some people might not give anything, but others will probably give more than they would if it was just a fixed price, since it IS a fundraiser. (And some of the people involved in the show have "connections," so a lot of wealthy Knoxvillians are planning to attend...and likely donate to a good cause...)

But quite honestly, I'm more interested in getting my friends to come see the show...thus, the emphasis on FREE  .

As much as I would like to go, it's a work conflict.

Darn work won't let me have any kind of fun....
