Dayton County, TN is actually trying to outlaw queers.

To think that my family used to all laugh over the backwardness of the Scopes Trial, and congratuate ourselves on how far little old Tennessee has come. I guess new ideas really DO take a while to soak in some places.
What I want to know is, at what point will homosexuals be subject to criminal sanction? Does this apply to new queer residents or home-grown homos? The kid who at age 12 starts to feel "different" - off to juvenile hall with him I suppose! What about bisexuals? Are they only half-criminal?
Burning with anger and indignation...

Altho I am glad I don't live in that county, it's amazing in this day and age that people still have these beliefs, and they somehow make it into law.
It was only in 1996 or so, that the infamous "Sodomy law" was struck off the Tennessee books. You all remember, that "you can't have sex unless it's in the missionary position" law.
Ridiculous. Like the police are going to actually bust down your door, drag you and your wife naked out of the house because he caught the two of you engaging in something out of the Kama Sutra. This used to remind me alot of George Orwell's "1984".

Well it wasn't until last summer that homosexuals could have sex in TX. Remember kids? That was a STATE law. Ignorance, is a sad, sad, little disease.

Here's an interesting little bit of info... the missonary law is still in effect in KY actually...
What a lovely time we live in. and when I saw mention of George Orwell's "1984" I had a "hackers" flashback... "Check it, George Orwell 1984, 'were all numbers' yeah right man, that's a typo, you can set at your house and do nothing and your name goes through like 12 computers a day man" ~Cerial Killer [/geek]

Or rather like that old British TV show "The Prisoner", another bit about freethought and individuality, where every resident of this quaint Welsh village is an ex-spy who is brought there to have information extracted, their will and individuality broken ... and they all are referred to as numbers, not names.
By the way, does anyone on here like this show? I am trying to collect all 17 episodes of this.

People in that county are always giving us problems.
*sighs* I want to raze the place, sometimes more than that other city which shall not be named.
Anyways, had someone call in from out there about a month ago who wanted us to shut down a child care center because the director was a lesbian with a pierced tongue and would probably molest her daughter if we didn't do something.
Trying not to call her an idiot was such a challenge. I think she heard me snickering at her though.

I know that this show is out on dvd now but the box set is expensive, like 200 bucks. You could always try eBay.

I know you know where the "other" place is. That which shall not be named. *grins* sometimes i'm actually glad it's there, because it's a bit easier to understand in it's insanity than what goes on in some of these strange counties elsewhere in the state.
And incest is most definitely illegal under state law, whether it's practiced still is another issue.
If I'm remembering correctly "Crimes Against Nature" was repealed back in '94 or so. Apparently it was deemed useless, but we've had to look up a few times up here and others. Of course my memory could be wrong, there's some very strange crimes in old laws....
