Does anyone know of a place that would give FREE veterinary care??? Something is very WRONG with my cat....no fucking clue what....I think my bigger cat may have hurt something internally on him when they were playing....anyway, Smoke is meow/growling continously in pain, laying on his back(something he NEVER does) and having spasms. I absolutely CANNOT afford a vet! Anyone have options or ideas?

I know it's a distance, but there's an animal hospital in Athens with VERY sympathetic and supportive staff. They're just off highway 11, and their phone is (423) 745-7436.
They did really well when we had a kitty crisis back in May, the vet was so supportive...
And, they have a payment plan. :D

Dr. Butler in Karns (Oak Ridge Highway/Western Ave) near the Weigels will do vet work and will let you make payments. Just explain the situation and you can put however much money down that you can spare if any and make payments.

i totally agree there. dr. butler is a FABULOUS vet. he will even make house call in emergencies( a friend's dog was shot and he came out to BFE at like 4/5 in the a.m. to save it). i have several friends that have worked for him and all rave about him. i believe he requires a down payment, but i don't know how much. i'm sure if you explain the situation it won't be much if anything at all. another good place, i don't think they do payments though, is jackson square animal clinic in oak ridge, the office visit fee is only $5. i took my dog for his annual shots, heartworm, and frontline flea shit all for under $75.

Called Dr. Butler and he was going to work with me no problem. Went looking for Smoke this morning to take him there. :-( I found him dead in the litter box. :-( For those that have been to my house, Smoke was the little black one.

OMG...I'm so sorry...he was such a cutie. :-(

I wonder if he ate something poisonous or something? My moms cat Asher once ate a mouse or rat that had been poisoned and had a horrible experience and had to be put to sleep.

I hope he went peacefully...

Dr. Crawford on Magnolia. They are pretty reasonable in price and he is a really good doctor...also, it's just a walk-in clinic, so you don't have to wait for an appointment.

i've not seen the cat, but i feel for you. i just lost a puppy out of a litter of 8 and was still very upset, despite the remaining healthy 7. i just wanted to be able to do more for her, and disreguarded the fact that she was prolly already sick. losing pets sucks. i wish i could make a concoction that would make them live forever.

My condolences Shawn. I have two cats, and I know how I'd feel if I lost one of them.
