OK, here's where I go on my bitch-rant!
At the last Sanctus, some people asked me to get in a mosh pit to "beat the hell out of people"! What the fuck?!? I mean, I'm not punk (wouldn't really claim to be goth either but who wants to be put in rank-and-file anyway?), but I was seriously offended. Pits are a tribal thing, not a machine for fucking riot. There are actual styles!! I hate these little bitches that just want to hit people & get away with it. You want to do that, start a gang, not a pit. Sorry if I offended anyone with this post, but I REALLY had to get that out on a "large" media. Thanx!

On the mosh pit topic, I saw that several peepz were enjoting such activity... Good 4 them! However, I also saw a coupla peepz who were NOT so nterested n moshing get knocked across the floor on their asses... I gotta tell ya that if I get knocked down by this (& I have been b4), I cum back with a vengence & out 4 blood!

IMO, mosh all ya want, but DON'T
assume that it'z ok 2 drag otherz n2 ur frenzied fun!!!!! If I wanna play, I'll join n, myself!

umm no...
pits started
to start fucking riots .... blame the misfits. people just danced and hit each other till the misfits, black flag, and fear took it to the next level, but the fits had best pits. they are the bands that got pitting imfamous and it was too start fucking riots. people then when on to make dances out of it, but it was just to start MORE CHAOS. the only thing a pit ever was supposed to have towards order was helping out people that fall and not hitting people that are not involved. thats it.
people try to give me these lectures about moshing all the time...
i grew up around punk. its most of my life. and we started it. metal kids didnt do it till the early 90s, and they still suck at it. i go to metal shows and own the fuckers. years of exp. they think its a dance or a shove fest. there are dances. ill give you that, but they were made to hurt people too until the song exploded again. mostly the NYC hardcore kids started that anyway. west coast was way behind and fuck those west coast kids who say otherwise. thats why that shit has always been regarded as NYCHC dances. sick of it all made a video making fun of that exact thing like 10 years ago. tribal? no. moshing was started by people that just couldnt fucking stand it and wanted to hurt people. they helped out those who fell not outta respect they had the balls to do this too.
ending fact: first televised mosh pit :SNL in 81. the band? fear. the song? beef bologna. ohhh yea. belushi hooked it up before he croaked. he was a huge fan.

Ok JC.
You do know that moshing was started in Washington State then right. Grindcore, right ( to say that tecnically you are ripping off metal heads by moshing the way you do!). The Misfits Fiends just took what the other punks where doing & made it more violent.Granted! But the did not start pits, sorry. Moshing, before slam-dancing, was just what I said it was. I wasn't giving YOU that lecture, JC, I was just putting it out there. As for the "Tribal?" quote of yours, that is where it started. Whether on purpose or not, "Moshing" has been around for hundreds of years. The South Americans did a dance before battle, in which they would paint their faces, & slam into one another to the beat of the war drums. I'm not trying to argue with you JC, just I don't like being "put in my place", when I do know what I'm talking about! Anyways, I'm outta here.

This west coast kid would like to chime in his 3 punk ass cents, back in '83-'84, San Diego and LA were awesome places for the punk scene, TOLS, Hellcats, Bad Religion, Social Distortion, among others... But it was the San Diego Death Pits that were the most awesome. Outdoor gigs with actual circular pits about 4 feet deep and about 20 feet wide, that was serious moshing back then, with actual med-units standing by. Was amusing to watch, but could be quite deadly, 90's punkscene my ass... bite it JC

love ya bro but I gots my own parade goin hehe

oh im not dissing the WC scene. i got family that grew up partially in LA and partialy in NYC in the late 70s early 80s. after hearing the stories of the two, i gotta give to the East side. granted i wasnt there, god i wish i was. ill envy Fallen till im dead for that, if you remember em, tell me some stories sone time.
one of my relatives told me about the black flag show at max's kansas city where 9 people crawled outside and down the street to call an ambulance. i woulda KILLED to see that.
and i agree, there is no punk in the 90s sans some bands that will never get signed and a few that did but got watered down (Rancid & AFI are as far as i take that really...). angry samoans, black flag, TSOL, social D, bad religion, the germs, the clash, the cramps, ramones, pistols...ect ect ect any one smashes every new punk band to death. i hate the shit personally. there is some great underground unsigned punk around and some good ones still going, remind me and ill give you an address to this horror punk that plays here alot i totally love.
you know as well as i do that fighting over which coast wins is as dumb as fighting over UK or US,
but ironicly enough... all my fav bands of that era are west coast sans the misfits (lodi love! greatest band of all time).
and spook, thats a great history and i really like ya. wasnt trying to slam you, im just passionate about it. but this as been lifestyle for me since i was about 8 years old. and youve never seen me mosh so dont use the words "the way i do". i only get into large pits. otherwise i just dance around. the last time i got into a good pit was about two months ago. i usually leave the shit wearing other peoples blood. and ive NEVER heard ANYTHING about washington state starting SHIT. i think pitting hits something primitive in man, but i doubt that granted the education of the average punker thats what they were going for. relation is more of a mental state.
ive read stuff on that, and could point you out to some great pygmy websites where its discussed if you like.
you got your views, i got mine, but ill tell ya this:
even though i think your totally fucked on this one, you totally earned a new respect outta me. you rock.we need to slam a few beers sometime.
