Okies, I'm new here (2nd post of the day, actually), so I really didn't know what forum to post this in...

But are there any Pagans/Druids/Wiccans in the community? I've been a solitary for 3 years, and it's fine, but I would really really like to meet some others here in Knoxville. No matter what age (though it'd be ubercool to know someone who wants to mentor!), I'm just curious, and I thought I'd ask around ^.^

Solitary myself, tho my best friend is an ordained priestess, I believe there are quite a few pagans around here...

Are we booting witches now? I guess the hanging and burning stuff is passe'...

Seriously, there's a thread about it here, in the WitchCraftyGoth forum.

Um, yeah, the hanging and burning are really just so last year. Booting is gaining popularity, but what's really hot this fall is drawing-and-quartering, and the iron maiden.

Check the "Magic is Afoot" threads in General & Crafty Goth Forumz... more witchy-ness there!

Yes, as a matter of fact. A warning though; I would be very careful who you get mixed up with as far as "mentors" are concerned. In my experience, most who claims to be of mentor material in the Knoxville area either have a hidden agenda or are on a power trip. I'm not saying that the real deal isn't out there, but you will be truly lucky if you find it.

My advise would be to not announce what you seek to the general population. Instead, pray to the God & Goddess for a guide. You'll get better results.

I'm seconding Arkady's post- most people willing to mentor you without having known you for a long time are probably a bit sketchy. That goes for anywhere, not just Knoxville.

Give it time, your mentor will find you, when you both are ready. ;)

I am not really "wiccian" but I know lots of people that are. My good friend has a "New Age" metaphysical shop on Eleventh St. in Knoxville, not too from the coffee house. She has EVERYTHING...over 200 herbs, stones, incense, candles, soaps and so much more. She just opened the new shop a month ago...It is called "Mother Earth Oils and Herbs" her stock of supplies a tripled since her move because she has a full blue Victorian house for a store.

The best night is Friday..."Blackest Coffee hour" at 11th St. and drum circles at Mother Earth Oils and Herbs.

And I agree...watch out for people around here...lots of closed minds or "dark influenced" people looking for a power trip...be careful.

Email me if you like, I am sure I can point you in the right direction:)

Yeppers, gotta agree with these two. And I have been to Mother Earth Herbs and Oils. Though I have yet to get my sad ass out to the new store, or return a certain phone call. Damn 3 jobs. But they are good people with good information. And I would say a good place to be able to meet like minded people.

This is true everywhere. Anyone who claims to be a mentor automatically cannot be one, because any real mentor will always be aware that there is more to learn.

People can teach each other about specific things - such as an electrician training someone how to solder wires - but it's just asking for trouble to ask someone to "teach you everything".

I could teach you everything.....but it might take a while....like forever.

Opinion wise, I think I will throw in with Arkardy, Pharinet, and Nexus. With a bit more, all the really good mentors do so without you knowing that it has been done.

The great mentors are the ones who do so without themselves knowing either.

Ah, guys, thanks SO much for the help/opinions/advice. It means a lot to me.

Hopefully I will find a mentor, some day :-)
