As some of you may know, I've been active in the magical community for sixteen years and have been studying and practicing magic for a little longer than that. I'm interested in meeting and talking to any of you who have similar interests.

People might go by any or none of the descriptive names: witch, wicca, pagan, neo-pagan, pantheist, gnostic, mystic, shaman, qabalist, mason, new ager, druid, rainbow path, red path, native path, ceremonial magician, astrologer, spiritualist, clairvoyant, medium, seer, channel, psychic, visionary, mystic Christian, etc.

I am a Celtic Smith....hence the name. Though I have met few that know the signifigance of that.

Just so I can let my prejudices show though. To the Celtic People, a druid is a bird. A starling, to be specific. So I always laugh at the term.

You know, when I first saw that forum, I figured it was either magic or arts and crafts... so I checked it out and there is was, not being about magic.

The organization I'm a part of in Cosby claims to be a "Celtic Orthodox Church" although none of them have been able to explain to me how that applies. They appear to have "gone wiccan" in any event and their roots are in a French Order, so go figure.

The descriptive names I used in my first posting of this topic were meant to try to cover a lot of bases. A few of them, like mystic Christian, ceremonial magician, qabalist and astrologer could apply to me but most of them, including druid, do not apply to me. My only contact with people claiming to be Druids was with representatives of Ar nDraiocht Fein: A Druid Fellowship (ADF) Their motto is "Why not excellence?" Some of the pagan groups I've worked with in east TN should have the motto "Why not competence?" or "Why not adequacy?"

From a mystics' standpoint, I'm most interested in those "otherworldly" experiences - seeing things others don't, for example, or having information from the "other side" which is undeniably real and relevant but which has no rational explanation of its origin. Call it extraordinary intuition if you will.

Hmm... there's been some complaints from The Powers That Be (a.k.a. admin) about creating bunches of new forums.

So... I think this would fit well in Crafts, really. Especially because gardening is already in there, and Green Witchcraft would obviously be a part of that.

Why don't we discuss this in the Crafts section? I'd be happy to be a part of this, as I find it very interesting.

I too would enjoy the conversation in that forum and i would be more than happy to settle for it to be in the crafts forum. I am one of those people that see things that others don't. I know things that i can't rationalize how or why i know. I have looked all around through diffrent religons and i've not found one that explains me yet..... or one that can tell me what I am.

Some of my friends that are into magic call me an imborn, but most just find me weird. I've known since i was about 5 that this wasn't my first life...... so yeah i'm all about talking about htis stuff. And maybe you all can give me some guidence and direction to what i should check out to help me advance and control what i don't have control over in myself.

I agree that too many forums just clutter up the board. Having run a BBS in the past, there was little more annoying than people clamoring for a new forum only to have it left unused once I went to the trouble of creating it.

i dont respect Wicca (have no problems with Wiccans, just think they are bogus. not all religions are real to me. most of my Wiccan friends understand this) or the so-called mystic new age hippie shit (i used to have a bumper sticker with shove that crystal up your ass. ive also owned a blessed be fucked sticker. i blame the move the craft for spawning a bunch of two bit phonies..). i do respect some of the religons based around Wicca (that in my opinion Wiccians unknowngly rip the fuck off). Wicca has no backing into a theory i call the "Backgone of Divinity" in which many of these organizations and belief structures get incestous with each other... theres a reason. they are all building blocks that if we reverse we can get the picture... but ive grown up a bit and im not actively against shit now (cept false X-ians. hate that shit. real Christians only if your gonna back that name)..

Christain Mystics are those types of Christians who believe that there is a way to get closer to their god. Most religions have a mystical side to them. This side usually beleives that there is a way to get closer to the spiritual peak, closer then your'ee average worshiper. Usually this was done in secret.

Gnosticism is one famous section of Christianity that was very mystical. William Blake is a good example of a mystical Christian.

Also, to bring the faiths a little closer together, I should mention that Christians cast spells alll the time except they call them prayer.

I am not a "pagan" or any of those terms, but I am interested in herbalism, mythology, astronomy, and find a lot of "pagan" connected things interesting, like tarot, even though I personally don't believe in anything supernatural.

You are more than welcome to discuss it in my forum. Just be respectful of all peoples beliefs please (I have no doubt that you will be)...

I worked at an herb/new age type store for a year and a half, and have tons of books on many topics...also, my stepfather is very knowlegeable about such things and maybe I can get info from him if neccessary (Scorptrio, didn't you introduce my mom and stepdad?)...

Wow, another term I find hilarious. Celtic Orthodoxy!

There was once a Celtic Christian Church many hundred years ago in Ireland that was an interesting blend of Christian and Celtic philosophies....But, they were stamped out by "THE CHURCH" as heretical.

By "THE CHURCH" I mean the Roman Catholic Church. Not to be confused with the other 5 or so who also make this claim (East Orthodox, Ethiopian, and so forth).

At one time, the Celtic People covered the almost the entirety of Europe. Their origins being in the area of modern day Saltzburg Austria. The modern day Celtic cultures that survived the Romans exist primarilly in Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and Nova Scotia. But there are small groups in France and Spain as well. The Brettons in France and the Basque in Spain. The Brettons are perilously close to achieving equal status though with those others due to a resurgance in the Bretton language and culture. Not an easy thing in France which usually stomps on such efforts with force of law.

I must say, first, that an attempt to organize sprituality by any one person or group is disgusting. Sorry, but it is. I don't think that one should rely on any set of rules AND... I'm NOT saying that anyone here is.
I guess you could say I am one of those who is active in the spiritual battle for earth heehee. Of course, aren't we all. Its good to see those people who are actually talking about it though. Thank you. My question is. What is your goal in practicing "Magick"? Jst curious.
