Almost midnight ya'll's time, and it's almost 80's night here in Frisco. If it weren't for the slumping job market, I would say this town is perfect...

Here's an email I got across the grapevine - a window into the goth scene here, which very well could make knoxville the envy of many a vampire...

"There are a couple of slots left for DJs at GRAVE is a Goth Rave,
happening
at Kamp Krotus Friday night! (That's 'the night before
the burn' or 'Friday, August 29th'.)

We have turntables AND CD decks. You can spin BOTH kinds of music,
goth AND
industrial. Or even IDM. IDM? What does that MEAN, I Dig Men???
ANYWAY,
you can really come play whatever pleases you, so long as it is
spoooky, at
the phantasmagoric GRAVE is a Goth Rave.

The party is happening from 10:22pm 'til 5:22am. You can spin for
as little as a half-hour, but taking an hour-long slot is preferred.
Reply
to grave@gothrave.com to volunteer. PLEASE make sure you're replying
to
grave@gothrave.com, and NOT sfglj. (I won't see it.)

Kamp Krotus will be part of the Irrational Geographic Society village,
at 9:30 (Profane) and the Esplanade. So come on over and get down with
your mopey, morbid self Friday night."

(Scratches armpit, wipes bar glass clean) :: Yeah, we got BOTH kinds uh music heer, Gawth AND Indus-tree-uhl (chuckle chuckle)

Yeah, it's expensive to live here... but not as much as everyone says. And people can't dance here, not even to 80's music...

but it looks like anyone could come out here and become a really big goth DJ, even if they played tainted love  in their set.

I'll send some pictures when I get the chance. And when I get a camera.

Word bro, consider it on the todo list :-)

I should throw together a set and try spinning as well, for the hell of it if nothing else.
Brian do they have decent sound systems? If not it may not be worth the trouble...hmmm...

Anyway, very happy to hear from you. Be careful and write often. Emily and I miss you dearly.
