I've heard that Chandler's on Magnolia is excellent, cheap, and you get a lot of food. I haven't been there yet, but JaNell has. She may be able to tell you more about it.

Spiceys All you can eat wings on thurdays.

Stir Fry, Giant Panda, and Pf Changs all good and good amount of food, but alas also very expensive.

Ali babas The best place in the state (that ive found so far) absolute hole in the wall atmosphere but good prices and GREAT food.

Jalisco's all you can eat buffet about $7 a little greasy but great variety.

Cross Eyed Cricket not cheap but you can do some fun things like catch your oun catfish or just feed them. From what I hear Huge portions and all very good.

(if it was still around I would scream ContonHouse, appetizer, soup and huge main course for $3.50, maybe thats why they went out of business)

El Charo is great, but I'm also fond of Senor Taco on Broadway. Great Mexican food and very, very inexpensive.

I agree with the Ali Baba's suggestion too.

We're gonna try Chandler's sometime this week.

What area of town are you looking to eat in?

Falafel Hut is good and pretty cheap, its on the corner of Clinch and...13th maybe..next to Vic and Bills (sic and ill's) which is a deli that some love and some hate. I must say, when I was a young meat eater, after a night of clubbing...nothin' satisfied like one of their Vol Burgers with fries.

I say Ali Baba's as well. For Jason , myself , and BOO to eat there it's always $19.00 and some change. That's food for each of us, drinks, and some hummus and pita to go. :) The people that own it and work there are REALLY sweet, and deserve lots of patronage. We were just there on monday. I highly recommend The chicken shish kebab in a pita. YUMMY!!

IHOP, Sunspot (vegitarian nummy), MellowMushroom (piaaz, if you can ignore the hippies), BellaRoma (pizza/calzones), Altruda's (Itallian), Burrito Diablo( Mexican) , Ruby Tuesday's, Silver Spoon American Cafe (burgers), StirFry Cafe( stirfry.. curry is excellent!), Dragon's Den (basic chinese), Mandarin House( buffet chinese), New China (hole in the wall chinese very good very cheap), and FuJi ( best hibachi in town and CHEAP!).

Those are my favorite places.

I believe she speaks of the little dive on Clinton Hwy across from the Mr.Gatti's. It's near the top of the hill between Merchants and 640. It's on the the same side of the road as Taco Bell, and just up the hill from it as well.

I recommend it. It's cheap (cash only, though) and good as well. That's where my family has always ordered our chinese food.

The best Japanese I've had (and we did lunch) was Sakura's, beside Books A Million. Best since I was in Japan. Amazing food. I got the terriki (sp??) salmon and it just melted in my mouth. It came with miso soup, 4 pieces of sushi, 5 fried potatoes (like sweet, golden, and a few others) rice, and it seems like something else.

SunSpot is great vegan. Like forget-there's-no-meat good. I tend to have trouble with service there though.

Litton's or Littins is THE BEST HAMBURGER I have ever put in my mouth. And they have a history of winning awards. They're in Fountain City, but worth the drive. And they give you enough food to take half home. I can't praise them enough. It at one point was a butcher's shop, then he opened a sandwich shop on the side decades ago, and then it became a full time thing. If you eat there splurge and get a dessert. There's a board at the front where you put your last name and number in party, and you might have a wait... but it's so worth it.

I'd forgotten about New China Town on Chapman Highway (next to Disc Exchange), but that's an inexpensive place that's good. During one of my veggie periods I discovered that they will replace meat with tofu on every single menu item except Sweet&Sour. And they deliver to my front door.

Burrito Diablo is sooo good, and the servings are huge.

I've never heard of BellaRoma, but it sounds like I need to go there.
