Those of you who were at Skareoke got to meet my little cousin Johnny. Today he and some other family went to the river and he tried to move a rather large rock. It slipped and caught Johnny's hand between it and another rock. Two of his fingers broke and another was only attached by a piece of skin and a tendon. They had to fly him to Louisville, KY to have the surgery to have it reattached because we apparently don't have the technology for it here in Knoxville. If you can please just keep him in your thoughts and prayers that everything goes well for the surgery. He's just 17 and I hate that he's having to go through this at all. I would greatly appreciate it.

I will be thinking of him...and take heart that they prolly took him to Kosair's and it's one of the best children's hospitals in the country.

You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I don't think my thoughts do much and I don't pray, but I am very sorry. He seemed like a nice kid. I'll have to remind my son now not to try picking up boulders...

Let us know how things go...

That is absolutely terrible. A tragedy, really. I hope he's OK and that the only scarring is physical.

Best wishes to you and yours.

I just got to talk to my little cousin. He's so high on "morphine and other really good stuff" that he makes little sense but this is what I found out. They were able to save the one finger but they had to cut another finger off right below the nail. He said as long as his middle finger is intact to flip people off, he's alright with that. He also had pictures taken of his finger after it happened yesterday which he told me I must see. I cordially declined but I'm sure he'll insist. He said it only happened because he wasn't wearing his belt of invincibility...I think he should have had his pink hat of contemplation on and maybe he would have actually THOUGHT before picking up the huge rock. I told him everyone here was thinking about him and he said thanks. He asked me if I knew what time it was and I said "fuck you Johnny time" and he was like exactly. At one point he said his finger was just hanging there like "hi, i'm a finger, i don't exist". He's definitely high on the good stuff. Anyway, I am not going to work today because I want to spend time with him. They are coming back today from KY and then leaving for FL tonight. His mother decided not to fly up here. So, I would rather stick around here and see him for a little bit than be at work. Anoki, I loves ya and hope you don't miss me at work too much...thanks to everyone for their good thoughts. It means so much to me.

When I left yesterday, the candy bowl was full. I'm sure it'll be empty before I return on Monday. :)

Well, they have had to take him back to the hospital again and bring him home. Now they have finally gotten him back down to FL where they had to take him back again. His hand keeps turning white everytime they try to wrap it. Hopefully the doctors at Orange Regional will have better luck with getting him taken care of. I greatly appreciate all thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to me. I will keep everyone updated on the situation as I find things out. Thank you again.

More news and it's not good.
The doctors in Orlando had to completely remove the finger that was reattached. It was beginning to rot inside and apparently the hospital in KY shouldn't have reattached it in the first place. Right now I am just feeling so sad for him. Everytime we've talked to his dad, my uncle, he was just crying. I know there are so many worse things that could have happened to him and I am thankful it's just a finger but it still breaks my heart. I mean, he's only 17 and I just wish he didn't have to go through this or deal with it.
