Yeah the only nights that are truly convenient for a majority of the scene is FRiday and Saturday night(like any other scene). But that is a pipe dream. Those nights are the money makers. The scene would have to prosper quite well for a while for that to happen. But with 3 venues doing a goth night it gives pretty much everyone a chance to go at least once a month if not more. If they all are supported I think it would greatly help the scene grow.

I haven't read or posted here in a while, but I heard there was stupid shit being slung over here that needs to be addressed. Homophobia on the private forum which may not be named? Not that I've seen. If any mean, homophobic posts have been there, I have not seen them, and they were not deleted by the administrators. If someone made a gay joke, and you are offended because you are gay, or because you can't take a joke, then you can say something about it on the private forum which may not be named, if you are a member, as we have no moderators and are not there to babysit our members. If you are a non-member who has been lurking, and find yourself offended by what you read on the private forum which may not be named, then that is tough shit for you. After I read what is being said here, I went and looked for the source of it all. The only thing I found on the private forum which may not be named that was even in the ballpark was a joke in one of my wife's posts. Anyone who knows her knows she is no "homophobe." I am the only other person who can be said to be running the private forum which may not be named. I am not a "hater," either. But as we are the only two who are running the private forum which may not be named, then I guess the bitching and threats are on my doorstep. You gonna shoot somebody, Jester? If you are threatening me or my wife, you are in for a real shock. You don't want to go there with me. Balance, I just don't know what to say to you, bro. Are you smoking Drano? Anyway, it's easy to sling shit on a forum against people who aren't looking. I welcome any big man who wants to threaten me or my family to do it in person. I'll make you believe in God, for sure.

I think that its all been a misunderstanding and people have jumped to p.c. conclusions. If you don't know someone, you don't know their tones, jokes, etc, so it is easy to take offense.

On one hand, I've got a friend who I believe has assumed my other friends are homophobes and has made remarks wishing death upon them.

On the other hand, I've got friends whose death has been wished (if they were indeed homophobic) and they trusted me to not invite those who would wish death upon them for a misunderstanding.

How does one press forward in such a situation without losing friends? GAH.

You are absolutely right. So much is lost when you cannot sense vocal inflections and facial expressions. Sarcasm in the written word can easily come across as rudeness. I think that many disputes on the board are due to this.

Communication is always such a tricky thing. Many conflicts could be avoided if the concerned parties cared enough to try and communicate first rather than start swinging.
Also I hope that the irony of this statement is not lost on anybody:
