That "triangle thing" is called a "planchette" and if you do a google image search you are bound to find one.
When I was a kid I made one out of a board and a orange juice can lid with an arrow on it....lol.

Ouija board, n - 1) in occultism, a device ostensibly used for obtaining messages from the spirit world, usually employed by a medium during a séance. The name derives from the French and German words for “yes” (oui and ja). The Ouija board consists of an oblong piece of wood with letters of the alphabet inscribed along its longer edge in a wide half-moon.
oui is French for Yes
ja is German for Yes
It's pronounced WE-JAH, not WE-GEE
Sorry littlepocket, I can't stand false information and am driven to correct it. My advice is to stay away from such things and learn meditation and forms of magic where a safe circle is cast before divination is attempted. Tarot cards are a lot safer than inviting random spirits into your life with a ouija board.

I was expecting something more along the Knox Fetish lines when I saw the thread title. I'm like...OW!!! Splinters in the anus after suffering the wrath of the Wedgie Board! I have had some strange occurances with my Ouija board, and haven't used it in over a year.(phones flying off the hooks, people acting strange, and my uncle repeating full sentences that we had said b4 he ever came over, such as "I am letting my creatures in". So if you can't even spell it correctly, then you may not want to mess around with things you do not fully understand. And if you experience the triangle oracle moving either in a circular or figure 8 pattern....stop playing. That's my advice, and I have had my board for over 6 years. So if you decide to participate in using the board, play safe kiddies!

Actually, I hate to burst both of your bubbles, but if you insist upon getting technical, here's the correct answer:
The word can be accurately pronounced both ways.
If you don't believe me, click this link, and then click the little horn icons to hear a spoken pronunciation,
both ways...

Now, can we get back to talking about wedgies?

Hrm...knowing that germans say "jah" not "gee" makes me *think* ok, yeah, maybe it is oui-yah or oui-jah or whatever...but the only way I've ever heard it pronounced in my 24 years is like "wee gee" so... I personally will continue to pronounce it that way no matter what scorptrio has to say..hehe.

This is an interesting article about the origins of the Ouija board.
My opinion is that the board probably doesn't contact anything other than your own subconcious and even if it does, it's contacting troublemaking spirits rather than the dead. I'm not sure if either ghosts or spirits exist but I'm pretty certain that if some dead guy has something to say, they can manage it just fine without the board.
It's an easy way to get yourself hysterical for no reason on a slow Saturday night, though!

Yeah, it's very possible to be the subconscious BUT there have been times we've asked questions when three of us were playing and two of us had NO idea what the answer was and the third (the one who knew the answer) went OUT of the room and wrote down the correct answer and we still got the right anwer having no idea what the third person was even referring to. Just an example...the one who left the room said for us to find out what she did at work today. We had no idea. It told us that she took a pregnancy test and even the brand and she had wrote it all down while waiting outside for us and had not yet mentioned it to us that she was even thinking she might be pregnant. So, in some ways, I think it can be that but in others I don't completely agree...it's so strange.

While I'v heard many storiez ov other peep'z Ouija xperiencez, I'v not had much xperience with it personally. The coupla timez I tried it (yearz ago) were with peepz who uzed it regularly, and the triangle piece just kept moving around erractally & flying offa the board. They told me that I seemed 2 upset or nteract badly with the spiritz & that they'd never had n-e-thing like that happen b4 with n-e-1 else.
It iz simply a tool & certainly not the only way 2 communicate with spiritz. I can, however, c where it could b useful 2 nterpret messagez. I must agree, tho, that caution should b uzed n such thingz & that u might wanna educate urself a bit further n such matterz b4 jumping headlong n2 the realm ov spirit...

*sigh* CHSgothbabe09, sweetie...
...anyway...I have a little keychain one. Tiny little planchette (thanks buttercup!) in a little drawer on the side. It's cute. I've tried to use it a few times, but nothing happened. I'm just not spiritual or in touch or whatever enough. I used to be, but I lost it somewhere between here and childhood, I suppose. I really wish I weren't so cynical like that.

If you are making one only because you cant find them,Toys-R-Us actually carry them for around 10.00! Be careful though, even though Im Wiccan Ive scared the crap out of myself a couple of times while using it. I agree with Mother Mo...Tarot cards are better, and much more of a challange to learn.
