I read this the other day and I just haven't had time to post it. Mereck & Co. have produced a vaccine for cervical cancer...which in studies has worked against some STD's...

Hopefully this means that vaccinces for other types of cancers aren't too far behind.

So its actually a vaccine for the HPV viruses, which are tied to cervical cancer, not really a cancer vaccine. I wonder how many other cancers are virus-related?

Well...that isn't the extact article that was in the paper...The way I understood it was thatit was a vaccine against Cervical Cancer and that it worked against STD agents such as HPV...but I could be wrong...

Most women don't realize how many women cervical cancer infects. I think there was a number in there that was 1 in ever 176 over a lifetime...but I haven't read the article since it came out...

That's what killed my husband's Mom. Good to hear more might be spared in the future.
