Discussing music (NOT reviewing! Discussing!)

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

I have a couple of Sixteen Horse Power songs on a mixtape a friend made for me. I'd heard the "Black Soul Choir" song before. I thought it was pretty good.
I also got the Elvis new release thing for Christmas, and I have to say the remix of "A Little Less Conversation", albeit overplayed, has a really funky beat that I can't help but dance to. Elvis was a perv....everybody loves a perv. My Dad had an Elvis Moody Blue vinyl still in the plastic. He told me once he thought it might be worth something, but he had it stashed away, and we don't know where he put it now that he's gone. I'd never part with it, but I'd love to have it.
I'm fond of odd covers of songs. I'm convinced Type-O Negative can cover anything and make it sound good. I have a cover of Electric Hellfire Club doing INXS' "Devil Inside", and it rocks. I also like Lords of Acid's cover of "Lady Marmalade" because the bass is crazy. I have a little collection going of bizarre covers. If anybody knows any strange or really good covers, please post them for me.

Here are some of the beating myself up favorites.

Yea.... i do that too. You're way more diverse in your music to beat yourself up to though than i am. i pretty much just stick to the Patsy when i'm in that kind of mood. Occasional Nina Simone mixed in. Then when i'm pretty well over it and feeling more fiesty i'll listen to Nancy Sinatra "These boots are made for walking" until everyone else in the house is ready to run away screaming.

I was not impressed with their cover of Teen Spirit. But then, I wasn't impressed with the original, either.

Type O's rendition of Paranoid, however, is something to be cherished. :D

yea but the cover they did live of bad moon rising all punked out was totally hillarious.....

webserch for electric hellfire club. theyve done a gillion covers and they are all pretty damn funny.... and the elvis thing.... yea even i dance when i hear the llc remix...

nemesis wrote: Oh wait... I thought you said that TOOL should... oh... you did... Ummmm... No...

yea i did, you can beat me now. its music about as hard to write/grasp/play wrote alot more fequently by band members that average being in 2 bands a piece per member. thats the big reason tool should take notes. neuorsis is constantly releasing new shit. this is the biggest strech without it since the band said fuck punk and started doing their own brand of weirdness.
that and everynow and then, there are more enwrapping that tool.....ESP when stoned for me..... it happens but it is rare.

My favorite cover of all time would probably be on the Macha Loved Bedhead CD (a collaboration between Macha and Bedhead). They cover the Cher song "Believe", slightly altering some of the lyrics, and using telephone dial noises to play the melody. It's way less annoying and way more beautiful than I have just described it.

nocturne: pigface but better. more hardcore. if only they would cover hips tits lips power.

Concrete Blondereleased "group therapy" in 2002, and Live in Brazil in March of this year.

Nope...I don't think that nocturne would be playing the Prince if they were more hardcore than Pigface. I've heard some of their music and its alright.

I'm totally sure you could find it on Kazaa or Morpheus or whatever you kids use.

The forum rules prohibit me from saying "I could burn you a copy", however.

I think that I may have known that. Of course everyone and their mom is in Pigface.

Definitely let me know when they come back, cause me and interf4ce were sorry we missed 'em.

George Jones is GREAT for that. "He stopped loving her today," The Grand Tour, She thinks I still care, Good Year for the Roses.

Really check those out. They are GREAT songs about heartache and loss.
