Was Grandpa a vampire?

Yes, he was a blood sucking creature of the night - wait until mom finds out!

No, he was just an old taxidermist with some inside info.

"The Lost Boys" Grandpa Poll

Post by Scorptrio »

It's been a long time contention of mine that the grandfather in the movie "The Lost Boys" was a vampire. What does everyone else think? Post your evidence pro or con and vote!

(Yes, this was prompted by Sinful_Fetish's sig line.)

Pro:

Grandpa knew about the vampires in Santa Carla.

Grandpa knew who the head vampire was.

Grandpa is never seen out in sunlight without his dark sunglasses.

Grandpa is a taxidermist and mounts several animals during the movie (to harvest their blood for him to drink.)

Grandpa has a "special shelf" with his drinks in it and he tells the family to never open it.

No he is not a Vampyre. The first scene he's playing dead outside in the middle of the day. Vampyres burn up in sun light....

Different rules for vamps in that movie...

Post by Scorptrio »

Nope, sorry, in The Lost Boys universe, vampires can be outside during the day, in full sunlight, as long as they wear sunglasses. Reminds me of that old Ray-ban commercial. I'll need to watch the movie again... maybe this only applies to "half-vampires" who have drunk another vamp's blood but not fed themselves yet, but that still means grandpa is at least a half-vamp.

Vamp. Definately a vamp.

He's right, if you pay attention to the movie the only time you see Max, David or the rest of the vampires besides Start and Michael who are only half vampire are at night, in fact when Sam and the Frog brothers go the the cave to kill the vamps, David chases them and when his hand gets in the sunlight, it catches fire.

Half is better than none.

OK, but I stand by the theory that gramps is a half-vamp.

Maybe Grandpa was a Vampyre Hunter. If they do a 2nd moive they could use Grandpa when he was young as a Hunter.

Cool thread! Have not seen this movie in, like, 10 years? But I do remember having similar thoughts about gramps. My opinion was that he had some vampire history, possibly as a vampire hunter, but he was SUCH a badass, that he really considered vampires as nothing more than pests, of no more consequence than a raccoon digging through his trash. That's why he never thought of warning his family.

Definately something fishy about the guy!
