If I have offend thee..

Post by Black Metallic »

Im sorry - I had to put my dog down today, and in honoring my memories of Finnigan (whom some of you saw on my website) I am drinking to him. I think I know of one person whom I might have, and if so, I apologize. Its like losing a child.

So again, sorry if something I said didn't sit right, Im dealing, and no blood, no foul, right?

*hugs* Oh hun, I am so sorry. I lost my dog just before I moved to Knoxville and It tore me up. My thoughts are with you, sweety.
May your dreams be the future you could have had, and your nightmares be the realization that you destroyed your chance to make it reality.

I'm not sure who you might have offended, but I certainly hope you are doing better and that in some way we were able to help you through it. :) I know all to well what that pain is like.
Take care! *hugs*

This is what happend. Friday night Finny was sick (i.e. throwing up and bad stool). I figured he ate someting he shouldn't have (he ate everything, he was bound to get something that didnt agree with him). I went to bed about 11:30pm that night. I got up around 6am saturday morning, and when I took him out, he had some really, really bad stool(i.e. poop). I took him in around noon on saturday. The diagnosis was A) his heartworms were really bad, and B) he had some other bug that was similar to parvo(sp?), and ultimately would kill him. He was given about 6 to 12 months longer, during which, he would get worse and worse, not from just the bug, but the heartworms too. (He had them since I got him as a stray, and when they tested his kidneys and liver for the heartworm medication, he reacted to it, so he couldn't get the stuff to wipe them out all the way.) I knew this (about the heartworms), but I didn't know about the other problem. I decided that it would be better for him and me to not have him get any worse, and to be as humane as possible. So I had him put to sleep. It sucked. It still sucks. This is worse than any break-up I've ever had. I still second guess myself every 15 minutes, wondering if I didn't jump the gun. But even though it hurts now, I never wanted to see him in any more pain than what he was in.
Im very happy Finnigan came into my life about two years ago, and will always have only good memories from him. Thanks for everyone's support, and cheer.

A toast to you and your dog. I'll think of the both of you next time I have a drink - which will likely be sooner than later...
