28 Days Later revisited - DVD review

Post by Onibubba »

First, Caustic and Recluse are not allowed to post here :poke:
For people who are interested, just wanted to give some quick thoughts on the DVD release. If you thought the movie was good, the DVD is a nice transfer with very good sound. Personally, the look is what I liked most about the film. Haven't heard the commentary track yet, so I can't comment on that.

Extras: Boring crap. Don't watch the music video if you haven't seen the movie - the video is the whole movie condensed into about 5 minutes. The "Making of" is stupid (Be careful, diseases may be coming after you...or you...or YOU!). Worst of all, the prominantly displayed 3 alternate endings is a lie. You get the movie ending, the "bad" ending, which is essentially the same, and the added footage intended to follow the bad ending which makes it even more like the first ending.

Caustic and Recluse bring up very good points about this film. It certainly had its major flaws, especially in the last third. Still, I enjoyed the movie enough to buy it, but if you are considering buying it for the extras or the alternate endings, don't.

Already bought it eh? Found one nice bonus on the disc. There is actually a "radically" different alternate ending. And it does take things in an entirely different direction. at the alt endings menu, select the green arrow and you will get to view a long story-boarded sequence with commentary and dialog as to where the movie would have gone without including the soldiers. Kind of neat, and in fact, I wish they had gone this route instead.
