I've been sitting here for almost an hour trying to think of something to say. I'm at a loss. No matter what I type, I either come off sounding like some two bit neo-hippy or a blazing asshole.
I mean, bloody hell...
Or do I?
...fuck it
You know what?

I have a word for you: shenanigans.
It's utter shenanigans that anyone's thinking there are battle lines drawn here. There's no KnoxGothic vs. the private forum which may not be named; anyone's allowed to start their own board and start their own night. It's a relatively free country, last I checked.
But the idea that a new night is somehow undermining the scene because some people aren't profitting from it is shenanigans and there's no two ways about it.
I've never been a member of the ruling class KGB, but I supported Sanctus by working there as a DJ and sundry other titles, with scars to match. I've also done my fair share of supporting it outside the venue, such as flyering and promoting it on my radio show.
I've never been amazingly close with Chris, though I like and respect him, and I supported the night at Fiction by working there as a DJ, and again promoting it on my radio show.
I'm a member of the private forum which may not be named, and I still think some of its members are dumbasses. I'll DJ at the Black Ball, and if I still had my radio show, I'd support it there.
And individually, on my own, I tended the Psycho Ward for two periods, promoting it when I could, reaching people who don't give a shit about club nights, and with the petty drahma going on right now, I don't blame them. I'm glad I could offer people the ability to relax with dark electronic music wherever they were, be they out driving, at work, playing video games with friends while chugging cheap beers in somebody's dorm room, or in prison.
So when it comes to supporting "the scene," whatever that encompasses, there are only two stances I care about: you're either doing something or you're not. And if you think a new night, a radio show, or gathering at somebody's apartment to listen to CDs where you're not invited is divisive, shut up and do something yourself.
Shenanigans.
