TSOL frontman runs for cali gov (not a joke)

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

TSOL frontman runs for cali gov (not a joke)

Post by junkie christ »

jack grisham
also know as the front man for
TSOL
is running for Gov of cali.
if you want to see the dualism of fighting the system becoming creating one, i really recommend reading all of this

not like its not totally unheard of, google searching jello biafra will dig up his NUMEROUS attempts to be mayor of san fran and gov a few times too... the guy is known to most non-fans as that guy who sings the necrophilia punk song, and hes one of the most well rounded political speakers running for internalized office ive seen in years. really funny considering i had the words to Abolish Government on a binder in high school. yea, he wrote that too. haha.

the funny thing is i read thru his stuff and watched him do a comedy bit on unscrewed with martin sargent (techtv) tonight and hes actually a damn good canidate....i would go watch him debate if he was running in my state.. if the government really worked like it should, you could see more of this in every branch alot more often.id rather vote for a middle aged punk rocker than a WASP in the republican shit stack. i can RELATE to that guy, he understands you gotta help everyone and fuck granting someone more slack because they are rich or pretty.... i love the hell out of his welfare ATM card idea to help snap welfare crimes.the only thing i didnt like was his alien citizenship policy (mistake from hell in these times)

TSOL's most well known song, a song that STILL worms its way onto west coast punk comps everywhere....

some quotes i pulled offline
I can't afford heath insurance, so I figure if I'm governor, at least they have a good health insurance plan," Grisham joked. The charming singer made light of his first interview as a politician, but insisted his campaign is entirely serious.
"For years I was always, 'F--- the government. F--- the government. F--- the government.' I was always bitching and not doing a thing about it," he explained. "And the other day I said, 'Now I am.' I just got tired of seeing people hurt, that was the biggest thing. I got three sisters who are teachers, two brothers who are police officers, a bunch of friends who are labor workers, dock workers. I work with undocumented alien immigrants all the time and I got tired seeing what they go through and no one caring. And they put this new budget out and the first thing they slash is health care and the first thing they start screwing is the people."

Grisham, who works labor jobs when not touring, will make heath-care reform the center of his platform. Recently, the singer himself was denied health care because his income was just more than the qualifying limit. "I said to the lady, 'So if I quit my job and left my wife and kids, you could fix my back?' " Grisham said. "And she said, 'Yes.' "

On other issues, Grisham is for legalizing and taxing both marijuana and prostitution, and supports full amnesty for undocumented aliens.

"Another big part of my platform is volunteerism, getting the community involved," he said. "People are just taking and giving nothing in return."

Grisham, who will run as an independent ("No one will take me," he joked), decided to join the unprecedented gubernatorial race only a few days ago, after friends made the suggestion. "Someone called me and said, 'Have you ever been convicted of a felony?' And I said, 'Well, never convicted,' " Grisham recalled. "And they said, 'Well, we want you to run for governor.' So I said, 'I'm in.' "

Grisham left the band in the mid-'80s, but rejoined in 1999 and recorded 2001's Disappear with the original lineup. T.S.O.L.'s next album, Divided We Stand, is due September 9, however Grisham refused to talk about the project.

"The fact that I play music has nothing to do with this," he said. "I'm willing to give that all up to take this job. This really matters, it's not a joke."

i leave you with the lyrics to code blue...
CODE BLUE
I never got along with the girls at my school
Filling me up with all their morals and their rules
They’d pile all their problems on my head
I’d rather go out and fuck the dead
‘Cause I can do what I want and they won’t complain
I wanna fuck I wanna fuck the dead

Middle of the night so silently
I creep on over to the mortuary
Lift up the casket and fiddle with the dead
Their cold blue flesh makes me turn red
‘Cause I can do what I want and they won’t complain
I wanna fuck I wanna fuck the dead
And I don’t even care how she died...
But I like it better if she smells of formaldehyde!

Never on the rag or say leave me aloneThey don’t scream and they don’t moan
Don’t even cry if I shoot in their hair
Lying on the table she smiles and she stares
Chorus

funny, but would never work.
i somehow doubt FSOL would have the insight of 30 years fighting the state government to turn around and try to help it...
hes also stated hes going to just keep running. every time. hope he gets it one day. hehe...

Sure we do. But we can't do anything about it.

At least I can't, because I don't live there. ;)

Might as well get some entertainment out of it while I can...

oh i didnt mean here, i meant in the nation as a whole.. ;)
cali sets the standards for everything in this country, tack on the fact cali is responsible for 25% of the nations income, and BOOM.
other factors too.
im actually trying to find out if out of state i can help do work online for grisham. maybe promotion or web work. all volunteer. he wont win this time, but hes just gonna keep running....

The problem with California is that it's part of America.

States should be broken up into smaller countries.

"Now entering West Coast. Marijuana is legal here. Do not be alarmed at the number of college students; they are mostly timid and will not attack unless provoked. Do not mention Soundgarden's later career as it is a felony to do so."

Jello Biafra should run for President. I think he would get at least a lot more votes than Nader did.

I am a HUGE fan of True Sounds Of Liberty(yes, I'm old), with either Jack or Joe as the frontman. Actually, my favorite album is Revenge, which of course has Joe Wood as vocalist. Two of my requests for the Black Ball are from that album, and they WILL fucking get played or someone will die. junkie christ, you're alright for a heretic, bro. If you find out some way to help Jack Grisham with his campaign, I want in.

When assassins kill assassins who kill assassins,
When there's nobody left,
No one to sleep at night,
When everybody's dead,
We live a life constricted,
So take what you can get,
They squeeze everything out of you,
But they don't use the snake!
"Let not man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and the worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind..."

gladly. will do. i should get some responses monday from my emails. i dont expect much though.
the great thing is his stances (for the most part) really do make sense. a few extremes but... tis to be expected. he wont even stand a prayer this time, but in a few elections after keeping this stance he can get $$ backing and really become a contenter if he sticks to his guns.
and im not a heretic, but i was for YEARS... forming some kind of faith is one of the only reasons i survived the last year. i just make really big bones with the people that defame the real esssence of god. it makes me swear out of organized religion, but im VERY much a believer in God... dont let the name fool you, its more of a joke. :-D
but anyway, ill keep ya posted. i sent my email to the link on the grisham site, id try sending some questions to it and see what you can find out...

Nah, it was just a friendly jab. I think I'm funny, even if the humor is private to me. I have been the biggest heretic, in the not-so-distant past. See you at Sanctus.
