I'm feeling a bit disempowered...

...'cause I've got no electricity! Sooo...there was a big storm here in Chatt yesterday afternoon, and something fell down in the woods behind my house and snapped the power lines! We don't know how long it's going to take before it's fixed, so I am envisioning several nights to come, spent trying to read by lamplight...

But anyways, I thought I could present my thoughts best in the form of a song. For authenticity's sake, please envision me as an old black man wearing dark glasses and hunched over a guitar on someone's front porch. Thank you.



THE GOT NO POWER BLUES

Ain’t had no power
Since last night ‘bout six.
Called up the Electric Power Board;
They say it’s a week till they come fix it!

Now I got troubles, oh yeah,
From my head down to my shoes.
I got troubles, but I can’t see ‘em –
I got the Got No Power Blues!

Can’t cook my food, oh no;
Can’t wash my clothes.
Can’t watch cartoons tonight,
And you gotta know that blows!

So I got the blues, oh Lawd,
‘Bout as much as I can stand.
Sittin’ here eatin’ Chinese take-out in the dark,
I got the Got No Power Blues.

Well, all those pretty burnin’ paraffin lamps,
They always get me in the mood, and I can’t bear it!
‘Cause what good is the lamplight
When I got no one to share it?

And I got the blues, all right,
Sittin’ here all alooooooooooone.
The power line’s down, and so am I –
I got the Got No Power Blues!

I'm sure being without power sucks and all but at least it was the catalyst for a might fine blues line.

Well now I've got some extension cords
and some multiplugs too
but I don't think they will reach
so you'll just have to make do...
With candle power....
eating your food cold out of the can...
In the dim light what you can't see
is any real need for a man...

Grab all the extension cords you can find and wrap them around your middle....

Then pull out your giant super magnet (the one that came with the science learning kit that we all got when we were kids)

Stand in the middle of the magnet and spin really fast....


You won't actually generate any power....but the dizzy spells are really cool... And... you will have wasted an entire day!!!
